Five Years...Fly By

It is hard to believe that my husband and I have now been married for five years .  It is really amazing how fast time flys by.   In the last five years our family has grown with the birth of two wonderful sons, who are little carbon copies of their wonderful Dad. In this time we have also done major renovations to two homes.  It was the desire to document these home renovation projects that started this blog.  Last night I looked back at pictures from our wedding and I thought I would share some of the pretty items and designs that made our wedding day beautiful and started us off our our amazing journey.

Fab Finds, Installment One

Today is the first in an installment of posts that I am titling "Fab Finds".  Don't you love it when you hear about a great buy or product from a friend.  Well, consider me your friend with the inside scoop.  Whenever I find a cool product and/or bargain, I am going to let you know about it.  Today's fab find is from TJ Maxx.  That is where I found these whimsical floral and chevron printed wash cloths and hand towel from designer Cynthia Rowley.  Both the wash cloths and hand towel were less than $5 each.    There were two of the large chevron print bath towels in the store, but because the colors in the wash cloths and hand towel mix in well with the towels I already have on hand, plus I am frugal even with bargains, I only bought the two wash cloths and one hand towel.  It is amazing how a little bit of color/pattern can spruce up your space.

Does anyone else have some "fab finds" to share?  I would love to hear about them in the comments section below.

Ready to Grow

Well it seems that Spring has officially sprung.  My Camellia bush is in full bloom.  I was a bit worried it might not bloom this year due to our up and down temperatures, but it is just as beautiful as ever.  I posted a picture of its first bloom in this post, click here.

The rose bush I bought for a super deal at our local "Evergreen" store last summer has sprouted out several new leaves.  You can check out all of the details on my  garden bargains from last year by clicking here.   I hope this bush really takes off this year.

Last weekend I planted the first items in the garden.  Home Depot was having a sale on their "Bonnie" plants.  The sale was 5 plants for $10, just $2/piece.  I bought some baby spinach, romaine lettuce, sweet basil, flat parsley, and a sweet cherry tomato plant.  I still have some room for a few more things.   Before planting, I added a top layer of new garden soil.

2012 Sugar Peas

I am thinking about planting some more sweet peas because they were so tasty last year.  Any suggestions for other tasty...easy to grow.. items?

Child's Monogrammed Pillow (More Super Easy Sewing)

Pillow Front
One of my good friend's asked if I could monogram a pillow for her to give as a gift.  She found this fabric and super cute button at the local "Bernina In-Stitches" store.

Pillow Back
I did another envelope pillow closure because it is super easy and then added a "faux" button.  You can check out my first envelope pillow effort by clicking here. I really love how the pink monogram and pink button work together.

I am sure there will be more pillows in my future, now that I realize how easy it is to make them.

Finally Some Spring Time!

Finally it is starting to look like spring time outside.  The up and down temperatures have delayed some of my spring time perennials from blooming.  I was really glad to see this Camellia bush bloom this morning.  Most of the bush is still just buds, but this little bloom was hiding in the middle towards the bottom of the bush.  It was hard to see, so I picked it to enjoy inside.

Does anyone else have some nice plants/trees finally blooming?
